My campus experience
Just like every other student, my dream was to join campus and enjoy 'campus life.'All this was brought to life in 2020 when I got an opportunity to join the Technical University Of Mombasa. It was a great opportunity since I was to travel miles away from home which was interesting.
As an 18-year-old girl, I knew that the campus had a lot to offer. I knew I would get a lot of new friends and have fun and experience a lot of other stuff that I had not experienced before. I know every other person joined campus with this mentality that there are no rules, no one could supervise you and tell you when to go to school, when to study, when to wake up, no one could follow up on your studies, assignments and everything else that was going on in your life and the fun part was that you could always have your phone with you. All this was true but what we didn't know is that our choices and decisions have an impact on our lives and just like every other institution of studying there is a pass and fail.
The first exam I did to me I didn't pass but I didn't fail either, but according to my mum I failed, I gave excuses but they didn't work, I remember she told me, 'You can't come from this far to go to Mombasa just to get what you are getting, If you get those grades again its better you just stay at home, these words really kicked in really hard and truly I wanted that to wake up and truth be told from them on I took my studies seriously and I've never gotten those grades again.
Everyone has their experiences during their campus life but for me, this is when maturity kicked in, campus is like an adulting school on its own, this is when you determine what is right and wrong with nobody's help, the friends which said you can count on them, sometimes some of them are not just your friends, you might need them and they won't be there or they might be but not willing to help but it's okay, you don't need them and it's fine, you need you to be okay and everything that comes and goes has a purpose and you should make something out of it.
We should also remember that what we do doesn't affect only us but our family as well since they look up to us in one way or another. For me my family came through every time, my sister is always there to listen to my cries and problems and my mother has always advised me whether or I've spoken to her or not, she told me once that if you want to prosper in life you should walk alone which really helped at the time.
I am proud of where I am right now and what I am becoming, what I've learned so far is to prioritize what comes first and everything else will fall into place, and through everything, we should also find what makes us happy do it, no one is perfect, the flaws that we have, make us who we are and what we have to focus on is what we want for ourselves in the future.

So encouraging 🔥
