My campus experience

Image
Just like every other student, my dream was to join campus and enjoy 'campus life.'All this was brought to life in 2020 when I got an opportunity to join the Technical University Of Mombasa. It was a great opportunity since I was to travel miles away from home which was interesting. As an 18-year-old girl,  I knew that the campus had a lot to offer. I knew I would get a lot of new friends and have fun and experience a lot of other stuff that I had not experienced before. I know every other person joined campus with this mentality that there are no rules, no one could supervise you and tell you when to go to school, when to study, when to wake up, no one could follow up on your studies, assignments and everything else that was going on in your life and the fun part was that you could always have your phone with you. All this was true but what we didn't know is that our cho...

(a google photo) A strong and empowered youth is critical to the development of a country's economy. Since the youth population percentage in Kenya is high, they have a role in the growth and revival of the economy. Paying taxes is one of the ways in which the youths help in the growth of the economy.  Most of the youth in Kenya are business oriented and have a motive to "Chase the bag". This helps the economy of the country since they are able to pay taxes to the government by employing themselves or being employed. Youths also help to reduce the rate of unemployment which is a major impact on the growth of the economy. some of the youth nowadays have jobs through skills, talents, and even the urge to have money. This is helpful since they are able to pay their own bills which reduces the dependency rate. The Kenyan government also provides job opportunities to the youth in different companies such as KPA, and the Media Council of Kenya which offer paid internships and m...

It's not always a bed of roses

Image
Toxic relationship cases among campus students have risen over the years. To be honest the students don't seem to know what they are getting themselves into and if they know if they are in a healthy relationship or not.  Some characteristics of toxic relationships are lack of support, toxic communication such as being answered rudely, jealousy, controlling behaviors, and dishonesty. Toxic relationships destroy your self-esteem and confidence, consume your energy, breed negativity and also form a template for your other relationships. All these not only affect the students but their parents as well since they invest in their children and no parent wants ill to their children. Two years ago, a second-year student at Kabianga University was accused of stabbing his campus girlfriend to death in a love triangle. In January of the same year, a fourth-year female student at Mount Kenya University confessed to killing her boyfriend by stabbing him. These are not the only cases I kno...
