Did you know you can use home remedies as cure
Home remedies are medicine made with ingredients available at home. They are different remedies for different symptoms. Some of these remedies were started long ago by our forefathers and passed along from one generation to another while others were started in this generation. As for me, I got to know about everything from my mother. I think she raised us well. We were not like other kids who would go to the largest of hospitals and have their doctors which at first, I thought was boring not to be like them but now I am grateful that I was and experienced all this. “The remedies boost your immunity,” that’s what my mother says to us. We are used to talking about most of them just because of this quote, but I believe it since we rarely get sick.
Everything this day has become a remedy to us. Rest is a remedy since you need rest for your body to heal, and carrots are said to help with eyesight. water is a remedy and has a lot of uses in our bodies. we are advised to take water all the time we are advised to stay hydrated, water also helps to prevent constipation. We are advised to take 8 glasses of water a day. I didn’t know the importance until I got a severe headache, and my mother got me checked by the doctor, we did all the tests and nothing was found but, on the way out we met my primary school teacher who advised me to take a lot of water which cured my headache. That has been and will be my daily reminder even though I still don’t like drinking water but I do just to be healthy.
Another remedy I learned about was some herbs that helped cure a stomach ache. Luckily, my grandmother made me some for a stomach ache but didn’t get the chance to learn the ingredients and how to make it since I was so little then. My sister and I used to call it ‘bitter herbs’ because they were but the good thing was that it cured the pain and you could take it once unlike the medicines prescribed by the doctors which have a dosage are many pills.
Ginger is also an ingredient for a remedy. Ginger is used to make tea since it adds flavor which I use every day, it can be used also as a food spice. It can be used for medical purposes which we do. It is an example of what doesn’t lack in our house is ginger, lemon and garlic, and honey.
These four have become common to me, though bitter I enjoy taking them since according to the saying they boost my immunity but not only that, if taken regularly they detoxify our body they also have a cold and sore throat. This has worked for me most of the time so I recommend them to my friends when they complain to me and it works for them too. This remedy was also advised by the ministry of health to covid 19 patients which they said helped.
Another remedy my mother makes for us was boiling ‘mwarubaini’ leaves and making us inhale the vapor by covering ourselves with a blanket. This was and is still fun and works actually.
These are some of the remedies my mother has taught me and I use them and also recommend them to any other person who would like to try them. I am very glad that was taught all this and was able to share them.
